Will Mississippi State Make History Tonight?

This is the only proper way to end this trip! On whopping Day 14, Mississippi State and Vandy will play a winner take all game 3 for the National Championship tonight at 6:09 Central in Omaha. State destroyed Vandy 13-2 last night to even the series 1-1.

Both teams are throwing their ace pitchers (Kumar Rocker Vandy & Will Bednar Miss State) on short rest. Both also have rested bullpens because of blowouts the last two nights. Neither team has used their closers (Landon Sims State, Luke Murphy Vandy) yet. There’s a massive Maroon & White Army here from Mississippi that’s 30,000 strong. They packed Picks Central today at DJ’s Dugout yet again and it was a big time.

Despite having an incredible baseball tradition, the Bulldogs are looking for their 1st national championship in any sport in school history tonight! The ESPN camera caught Brandon Walker with this graphic last night.

Vandy is a slight favorite tonight at -129 with the Over/Under set low at 7.5 because of the stellar pitching.

Everyone and their mother is on Mississippi State tonight as the entire college baseball world other than Vandy and Ole Miss fans wants to see the Bulldogs win after what happened to NC State last weekend. Vandy has a small fan base as a private school and also has advantages with scholarship rules. They won the national title in 2014 and 2019. Dave Portnoy and Big Cat both have been active on Twitter and are on Mississippi State with Dave even betting over $100,000 on the Bulldogs in the Barstool Sportsbook!

Before the tournament, I took Vandy at +900 to win it. I also took them at +350 before Omaha as my pick. Dave Portnoy KILLED me for being a sucker backing the chalk on Twitter before the CWS started.
